This next upcoming week, more specifically on Thursday, June 21, Summer officially begins in San Diego. We may be able to enjoy incredible weather all year round, but now San Diego truly comes to life with events and activities popping up on every corner. Here is a list of 4 things you can do going into the week kicking off summer.
#1 Green Flash Concert Series: Steve Poltz
The Green Flash is back for its 13th annual season, on June 23, the Birch Aquarium is hosting the Green Flash Concert Series combining an incredible panoramic ocean view with the amazing live music of Steve Poltz. Make sure to keep on the lookout for the natural phenomenon “The Green Flash” on the ocean which is caused by refraction from the sun. Tickets start at $35 and the event starts at 6 pm on June 23. This event is 21+
#2 Movies and More by The Lake
Santee Lakes Recreational Preserve is having a showing of LEGO Batman on June 22. The festivities will begin at 6pm, there will be food trucks and snack bar treats on site. Bring the whole family and a couple of blankets for a night of fun at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, 9310 Fanita Pkwy, Santee, CA 92071. Make sure to bring as many people as you can fit into a truck because admittance is $10 for a truck full!
#3 Sunset Poolside Jazz Series
Relax with an amazing view of San Diego’s beautiful skyline in the background. Thursday nights at the Westgate Hotel will feature some of San Diego’s most amazing jazz musicians for the 5th Annual Sunset Poolside Jazz Series. The talent is carefully selected by Gilbert Castellanos, a leading top-call jazz musician. Every Thursday from 6:30-9:30 there will be live music playing make sure to come out for an incredible dinner with an even more incredible atmosphere.
#4 Van’s Warped Tour
One June 22, Journey’s is presenting Van’s Warped Tour at SDCCU Stadium Parking Lot. The event will start up at 11 am and last until 10 pm at night. The price for entry is $45. There will be hundreds of artists food and festivities. Kick off your summer right at Van’s Warped Tour.
