San Diego is known for many things, the beaches, the weather, the nightlife, the craft beer, but did you know that San Diego is also a center for contemporary art. Aside from Balboa Park and the Art Institute there are countless exhibitions always going on for both well-known artists and up and comers. Here are a few of our favorite art events going on in San Diego right now.

#3 Wonderspaces

Location: 1140 N. Harbor Blvd, San Diego, CA, 92101. B St Cruise Terminal at the Port of San Diego

Time: Ongoing until Sunday, August 26, 2018. Mon-Sun 10am-10pm

The amazing art spectacle Wonderspces based out of LA has made its way down to San Diego right on the Harbor in the B St. Cruise Terminal. Artists from all walks of life exhibit their art showing the public the best of their abilities. In the 2017 debut, over 66,000 visitors were drawn to whimsical display. There are only a limited amount of spots for each opening so make sure to book your tickets now with prices ranging from $14 to $24.

#2 People & Places Art Exhibition

Location: Gallery 23 in Spanish Village, 1770 Village Place, San Diego, 92101

Time: Wednesday, August 1- Wednesday, August 15. Mon-Sun 10am-4:30pm

The Southwestern Artists’ Association is hosting the “People and Places” art exhibition in Gallery 23 at the Spanish Village. This showcase will be featuring artists such as Shinja Scheidnes and Deanne Tiffany as well as many well-known artists. This show is completely free to come and watch.

#3 High-Key: Color in Southern California

Location: San Diego Art Institute, 1439 El Prado, San Diego, 92101

Time: Ongoing until Sunday, August 12. Mon-Fri 10am-5pm Sat-Sun 12pm-5pm

Come and experience the culture of San Diego represented through any artistic medium. With local artists from all over San Diego coming to show off their artistic abilities, there will be many different forms of art shown off meant to strike everyone differently. There will be many different artists such as Michael James Armstrong, Claudia Cano, Max Daily, Matt Rich and many more.
