In the aftermath of hurricane Harvey, and looking forward to hurricane Irma, many San Diegans are looking for ways to offer assistance to those affected by the disasters from here in California. Today we are rounding up the best, verified organizations to lend your time and money too, and encouraging all of our employees and valued customers to help our country rebuild after this devastation.
Government and relief organizations say that what is needed most now to rebuild Houston and the surrounding areas are monetary donations. The easiest way to donate now is to text HARVEY to 90999 to immediately donate $10.00 to the Red Cross.
The San Diego based organization International Relief Teams is collecting donations to support Harvey relief on their website: Donate Here. From their site, you can donate money, gift cards, vehicles, and other assets in a few easy steps.
Additionally, go fund me has consolidated all of the hurricane Harvey relief funds on one easy to navigate page here, Hurricane Harvey where different families and organizations describe their needs.
If you would like to donate time instead of money or supplies, the Red Cross is seeking willing volunteers, and you are asked to call 1-800-928-4271 for more information, and FEMA recommends that volunteers work through the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (NVOAD) group, through their website here: Volunteering.
At San Diego Sailing tours, our hearts will be with those affected in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, and we will continue doing what we can as a company to assist in relief efforts.
