This is a new 3-part blog series that we bring you guys in hopes to get everyone a little bit more familiarized with the coolest classic sailing yachts on San Diego’s water. First, we are starting off with the beautiful flagship of our fleet, Lei Lani. Lei Lani translates to “Heavenly Flowers”. She is a 36 foot long 1967 Cal Jensen. She is kept in absolutely pristine with our crew constantly restoring and making sure that she is running smooth. She still has her original interior with a rich Mahogany lining.
The Cal 36 was created by the American company, Jensen Marine and designed by C. William Lapworth. This vessel has a fin hull with a spade rudder and has a masthead sloop rig type. These boats first came into production around 1966. If you are a tourist and happen to find yourself in San Diego, make sure out to Harbor Island to check out the fleet and an amazing sail around the bay of San Diego.
The team here at San Diego Sailing Tours are experts in boat restoration and maintenance. Most everything that requires mechanics or labor on the ship we do. All ships in our fleet are constant projects for all the crew here.
