San Diego is known for many things, and one of the biggest is its craft brewing culture. San Diego is the capital of craft beer in the U.S., and quite possibly the world, with over 200 local breweries located in the county. With this in mind, we thought we’d take a look at some of our favorites from around America’s Finest City.

We have to give a shout-out to Ballast Point, one of the most popular San Diego breweries that have anchored the craft beer revolution in this city. Ballast Point is available at many bars and restaurants around the area, but also has tasting rooms in Little Italy and at their warehouse brewery in Miramar. Famous for their Sculpin IPA, Ballast Point has become extremely creative in the different types of beers it produces and provides to San Diego as an experienced test market.

Societe is another very popular San Diego brewery that is quickly becoming well-known. It focuses on refining the classic SoCal IPA that is so popular in this part of the country while also branching out into other styles of beers to produce variety. Societe is highly-decorated and features a tasting room in Clairemont, where they host local food trucks.

Last but not least, we’ll mention Coronado Brewing Company as a local favorite. The guys at Coronado Brewing Company still run their brewery as a family business, keeping their attention on their local clientele as well as their national distribution. Also a major player in the San Diego IPA game, Coronado Brewing Company offers the locals of the island a great way to enjoy the local craft beer culture.
